The last few days have felt a lot more like winter than the last entire month! Cold temperatures, windchill, snow. It’s Saskatchewan though so we knew it was coming. Other than giving us something to talk about over coffee, is there anything good that cold weather does?
I’m not sure if it actually has anything to do with the Northern Lights but it sure seems like they are WAY brighter when it gets good and cold. Check out this amazing pick of the Aurora over Saskatchewan that was taken from the space station over the cold snap we had at Christmas.
I like that when it gets cold enough the snow hardens and you can actually carve out blocks to make snow forts. There is also something terrific about heading outside when it’s extra cold and you take that first breath in through the nose and you get that tingley feeling inside your nose… it’s special when you know that it’s cold enough outside to flash-freeze your boogers!
Overall we all decide where we live, and we decide to live here. In some strange way we all want to be able to say, “yeah I know winter, I’m from Saskatchewan.” Just another way we all band together.
