I remember when I met my beautiful wife Megan. One thing that really stood out to me was her love of music. Part of the reason she loved music so much was because she grew up listening to the incredible songs from the likes of “The Sound of Music”, “Annie”, “Cats” and more.
Other than the iconic tunes from Disney films, this was the first time I had ever been exposed to the world of Musicals. I wasn’t really into it. Nope not for me. Hard Pass. I mean I like music and all but I’m too manly for musicals. That was until she played a few songs for me that I recognized. Songs that I think a lot of people recognize, “Summer Nights”, “You’re the one that I want”, and “Greased Lightning”.
It was my first connection to “Grease”. Whether you admit that you liked it or not you know this film, and if you don’t you have some homework to do. The success of this musical spurred on two further sequels! Since then the love of this film has been ingrained in generations. It would be a shame if the next generation didn’t have their own connection to this classic.
Cue the lights, camera, action! Good News! Hollywood has just given the green light to the next installment in the world of “Grease”. This time it’s a prequel. What did happen when Danny met Sandy? Was Danny telling the truth as he bragged to his friends? Does Sandy’s story match up? In this gritty crime drama, “Summer Loving” will tell all!
I’m kidding, it’s not a crime drama. The cast from CSI Miami could never learn the choreography.
Screen writer John August is going to expand on the story we’re all familiar with from the song “Summer Nights” on the original soundtrack. His name might sound familiar, he’s the screenwriter responsible for the new Live Action “Aladdin” coming out on May 24th.
As much as we’re all excited to tap our toes and snap our fingers to new show tunes, the 64,000 dollar question is; Who do you think should be the next Danny Zuko and Sandra D? Drop us your predictions in the comments on our Facebook page, or text us at 306-446-0979.
