While we work from home as directed by our Government, we may find ourselves sitting in front of the computer or TV more and with less breaks or interuptions.
In fact, 65% of workers think they would be more productive at home than working in a traditional office environment, according to FlexJobs’ seventh study of 3,000 workers in 2018. Now, I’m unsure if this factors in kids or pets because let me tell you the boys are rowdy this morning.
I’m currently working from home and typing in front of my laptop with sunscreen on my face. I haven’t been outside in maybe a day or two, but yet I still put sunscreen on my face every morning.
This is because Dr. Diane Madfes of Madfes Aesthetic Medical Center in New York City says that digital screens can take a toll on our skin.
Extended exposure over time to blue light from devices (i.e. computer screens and phones) can increase the production of reactive oxygen species known as free radicals. Oxidative stress on the skin plays a major role in the aging process.
She says to curb this issue, apply a moisturizer SPF to your skin after washing it, and also apply antioxidants to prevent unwanted lines and wrinkles. Also, if you’re going to be working late you should re-apply the SPF after eight hours.
Now, too bad we can’t just apply hand sanitizer all over our body and call it a day.
Don’t forget to stay inside and self-isolate. That means only going out for groceries once a week and buying enough for that week so that everyone has what they need. You can still go outside, but be sure to practice social distancing, which means to stay two metres apart from another person and not encouraging ‘hang-outs’.
