A lot of people look at the Mayor and see someone “in Power”. They see the fancy necklace they wear at the meetings. They see them talking into microphones to tell the people how great the city is, waving the flag of optimism. They see them as the lucky person who “makes the call”.
Other people look at the Mayor and see someone who is selfless. Someone who is giving more to the people of their city than they give to themselves. Someone who is there to listen… to everyone. People see someone who is willing to sift through the good and the bad to take the lumps as they come.
You can’t please all of the people all of the time, it doesn’t matter what you do someone isn’t going to be happy with the decisions that come from local officials. The hard part with that is some of those people might be your friends and neighbors.
I wish the best of luck to everyone that has stepped forward to run for Election, I could never do it.
