If you grew up around the Battlefords you have probably heard of the trouble the ice can cause on Jackfish Lake. In years past the stories come in late spring as the lake starts to thaw and the ice has space to move. Once it has any amount of momentum there is no stopping it.
This year the ice has taken a different toll on lake-front property in Cochin.
The cole’s notes are that since it was a warm start to the winter the ice never froze to the bottom of the lake and so with temperature going up and down giant slabs of ice at the shoreline have heaved up destroying all kinds of things, from boatlifts to decks and sheds and doing all kinds of damage to the beach.
Check out the full story HERE.
It normally doesn’t got very fast, but the force behind it is almost unstoppable. Have you ever watched the ice come in? Tell me about it text 306-446-0979 or leave a comment on our FB Page.
