On May 1st at 8:35pm EDT the SpaceX craft Dragon caring 4 astronauts left the international Space Station. After a 6 and a half hour journey, the Dragon craft landed in the ocean off the coast of Florida. The craft landed at 2:56 am EDT that’s 12:56 local time. This is actually the first nighttime water landing for U.S. astronauts since 1968 when the Apollo8 crew returned.
The craft had Astronaut Mike Hopkins who was the Commander for the mission, Hopkins has been an astronaut since 2009. Victor Glover was the pilot and the second in command on this mission, Victor has been and astronaut since 2013. Shannon Walker who has been with Johnson Space Center since 2004 served as the mission specialist with the Dragon crew. Last but not least is Soichi Nogichi (Dr. Phil) he has been with the National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA) since 1996, when he started his training. I was unable to find out what his role was for this mission.
