May Long Weekend is the unofficial start to summer in Saskatchewan. Lots of people have made their switch to shorts and sandals, no matter what the temperature!
I am so looking forward to summer weather. I remember as a kid always wishing to go to ‘Beaver Rapids’ the outdoor waterslide park that was on the south side of King Hill across from the Don Ross center.
IT WAS EPIC!!!
One of the highlights of the water-park was the Tube Slide. This bad boy was like no other. There were 2… maybe 3 splash pools incorporated in the ride down. The pic above shows one of the pools. It was so much fun to get a big train together and race another train down to the bottom in the twin slides. Those splash pools were the equalizer – especially if someone in your train lost their tube!
What are you favorite memories of the old water slides?
FYI – Battlefords Tourism is located where the slides used to be, all the concrete walking paths used to lead to the top of each of the slides.
