Yesterday Pixar just released a teaser trailer for there new coming of age movie called Turning Red. The best part about this new movie is that it takes place in Canada in 2002-2003! The teaser trailer opens on Lester B. Pearson Elementary school and follows the story of a 13 year old girl who turns into a giants red panda when she gets to excited.
Turning Red takes place in Toronto because it is actually directed by Canadian Oscar-winning director of the 2018 short film called “Bao” that played before the film Inside Out. Domee Shi will show us the streetcar tracks, the CN Tower and graffiti-covered alleyways among many other Toronto Hallmarks. In the trailer we see beautiful shots of Toronto’s Chinatown, the streets lined with cherry blossoms. This movie is being called a love letter to Canada and for me the best part is Ottawa born Sandra Oh will voice the main characters overbearing mother.
This is a true Canadian film since Walt Disney Canada said that they even had a group of Canadian artists who worked on the films animation.
