In Saskatchewan we are tough. We live here even though winter is brutal and unforgiving. We’ve all seen the internet meme “Why Do I Live Where The AIR Hurts My Face?”, we choose to live here because we know what we’re doing to beat the cold. Thanks to this attitude we often disregard the danger that lurks in a Saskatchewan winter. Driving to the neighbor’s in our sneakers and bunnyhug, or buzzing off down the highway to an appointment in the city without any extra winter stuff like ski-pants, winter boots, blankets, or snacks.
I was told once long ago that “Luck Favors The Prepared”. After reading the story of these cousins that were stranded in Northern Saskatchewan even this phrase is put to the test. It was a very good thing these men had the knowledge they did otherwise this story would have had a very sad ending.
March is a wild-card during the winter season. One day it could be sunny and +5. The next it could be a full on blizzard that brings the entire province grinding to a halt. We live in Saskatchewan because we’re tough… and prepared. It’s March, be ready for anything.
Can’t wait for summertime!
