Amber Stewart sounded the Starting Horn for the Annual Walk a Mile In Her Shoes!
60+ participants took off in 4″ red leather HIGH HEELS. No it wasn’t some strange rite of initiation. These men are standing up against sexual assault and violence against women. Each year the Battlefords and Area Sexual Assault Centre hosts this incredible march at the Blend Restaurant and Bar patio.
This year I was proud to be a part of the BIGGEST TURN OUT EVER.
Sure it’s funny to see, and it’s going to make for some great stories of sore feet and rubber ankles, but the truth is, it’s making a difference. As this event continues to grow so does awareness, compassion, and respect. Change takes shape in many different ways, and yesterday it was a change of shoes that helped make the difference.
Thanks to all the teams that turned out, thanks to the organizers from BASAC, and thanks to our gracious hosts at Blend! I applaud you and can’t wait to see how much bigger this event is again next year.
