Yup. That’s our rain gage, showing just shy of 5 inches of rain. Last night while it was raining I was out doing chores and checking on animals (everyone was A-Okay) and I decided to take a drive to check on the road and the situation in the ravine in our pasture. Everything seemed fine, the water was draining through the culvert as it should and honestly it didn’t even seem like the water was up all that much.
This morning it was different… Here’s what it looked like in our ravine.
A little further down the road was another incredible scene at what our family calls “the Duck Pond”. It’s actually a dry creek bed besides the little slough that pools in one spot beside the road. You could see that it was restored back to a creek. And once again, I was very thankful that the culvert was doing it’s job!
It’s incredible what mother nature can do! The power of water on the prairie is incredible. Tonight I’ll have to close the windows in the bedroom or else I won’t get any sleep, hearing the grass and crops grow and whatnot! Holy moly.
