Last year we joined forces with the Discovery Coop to support the Lions Club Citizen of the Year Award. This was a pretty cool experience for me. The winners were Pius Pfiefer and Alyssa Woodrow. It was a long process to choose because there were so many nominations for people in our community who know the importance of stepping up.
We heard about business owners that lead the way for development in our community. We learned about neighbours that were giving to the point of amazement. We were told of volunteers that showed up without fail for so many important causes in our community. The best part about going over these nominations was learning that these incredible people were indeed still just people. They were just like you and me.
Talk about inspirational! We all have the chance every day to be like these people. And a huge thanks to each one of them for giving us an example of what we can be.
