On Saturday morning I woke up to hear some sad news about someone who lost their battle with COVID-19.
This is my friend Victor Thunderchild. Most people that have a connection to Victor do so because of his work as an educator. He was a dedicated teacher at Carlton Comprehensive High School in Prince Albert. More than that Victor was a husband, a father, a mooshum, a brother, an Uncle, and a friend to many. Victor and I met on a Q98 vacation and it was clear that we would be buddies, there is something special about finding another Montreal Canadiens Fan.
We didn’t get to spend a lot of time together but in the times when our paths would cross we had some great conversations about family, culture, and the importance of meeting people where they are. I think that was a big part of why Victor was so loved as a teacher. He saw students at many different places in their own journeys and he respected that. The Tributes from students, old and new, has been heartwarming.
Victor Thunderchild is going to be missed, and that’s a good thing. It means that he brought some good into this world, and that’s all we can hope to do when we’re here.

My deepest condolences to his family and friends and especially his incredible wife Vi. Rest in peace Vic.
