Tradition is important. It defines where you come from and reminds you who you are. A long standing tradition means that it has been embraced and loved. The many people that came before you took the time to really nurture that tradition and share it with the next generation. One of the greatest traditions in Canadian Folklore was upheld last night, when the Maple Leafs were beaten by the Montreal Canadiens.
One of, if not THE greatest sports rivalries of all time wrapped up for yet another hockey season last night as the wheels fell off for the Toronto Maple Leafs. After a commanding start the whole world thought that perhaps this would be the season, this would be the year that Leafs fans would have the satisfaction of saying “we didn’t lose to the Habs.” Then Montreal showed up.
For all of you Toronto fans that are hurting out there, I politely invite you to take off your blue and white, fold it nicely and tuck it in the trash. You know it’s time.
The Montreal Canadiens will have their work cut out for them as they get set to face the Winnipeg Jets. Some may say, “they’ll never beat the Jets”. Just keep in mind, no one expected the Habs to beat Toronto either. GO HABS GO!!!
