Last week we talked about how the “Apple White” cocktail from Last Mountain Distillery may have been a fun substitution for the classic Rum and EggNog. Well our friends at LMD decided to to prove that there is no Holiday Egg Nog like theirs made with Last Mountain Distillery Spiced Rum.

Mike joined me for a taste of this holiday classic. Now I should point out that he said he doesn’t normally drink Rum and Egg Nog – it’s too sweet for him. He pointed out that the Rum is kind of sweet on it’s own and the egg nog is like liquid candy, so he often over looks this staple of the season.
We took one ounce of the Last Mountain Distillery Spiced Rum, 3 ice cubes, and filled the glass with Dairyland Classic Egg Nog, then dusted it with real nutmeg.
At first taste I was impressed that the first thing you notice is the SPICE of the rum. Normally that spicy characteristic is an after thought, not here! That being the case it really mellowed out the sweetness, giving this cocktail a well balanced pallet. Nice work Last Mountain Distillery! They do the intricate work of creating a quality spiced rum, we do the easy part of putting it in Egg Nog at Christmastime and it’s a win win!
